Abstract

This study analyzes Islamic methods of inquiry in the development of the natural sciences by integrating revelation, reason, and empiricism within the framework of Islamic epistemology. The study is motivated by the rise of modern scientific paradigms that tend to be secular and materialistic, separating spiritual dimensions from scientific activities. This research employs a qualitative approach using a library research method. Data were collected from classical and contemporary literature on Islamic epistemology, the philosophy of science, and the natural sciences. The analysis was conducted descriptively and analytically to examine the relationship between revelation, rationality, and empirical methods within the Islamic intellectual tradition. The findings show that Islamic epistemology positions revelation as the primary source of knowledge, while reason and empiricism function as instruments for understanding reality. Classical Islamic intellectual traditions successfully integrated rationality and empirical observation without neglecting ethical and spiritual dimensions. This study confirms that integrating revelation, reason, and empiricism is a relevant alternative paradigm for developing holistic, humanistic, and tauhid-oriented knowledge
