PENDIDIKAN ISLAM PESISIR DALAM PUSARAN GLOBALISASI: ADAPTASI, RESISTENSI, DAN TRANSFORMASI SOSIAL

Islamic education in coastal areas faces challenges that differ from those in non-coastal regions due to the socio-economic characteristics of maritime communities, limited access to educational resources, and the increasing influence of globalization in the post-reform era. This study aims to analyze the challenges encountered by Islamic education in coastal communities and to identify adaptive strategies developed in response to modernity. The research employs a qualitative approach through a literature review of scholarly works on Islamic education, coastal societies, globalization, and educational transformation in Indonesia. The findings reveal that the challenges of coastal Islamic education stem not only from inadequate infrastructure, limited human resource capacity, and technological disparities, but also from the tension between preserving local Islamic values and meeting global competency demands. The study further demonstrates that the resilience of coastal Islamic education is supported by religious social capital, which functions as a mechanism for adapting to social change and serves as a foundation for developing contextual and responsive curricula. This study highlights the importance of integrating Islamic values, maritime cultural characteristics, and educational innovation to foster sustainable development of Islamic education in coastal regions amid globalization.
