AUTHOR GUIDELINES

Al-Furqan: Jurnal Studi Al-Qur'an dan Tafsir accepts manuscripts aligned with the journal’s focus and scope. To ensure a smooth review and publication process, authors must adhere to the following guidelines:

1. General Criteria

  • Topic: Manuscripts must be scholarly and focus on issues related to Qur'anic and Tafsir studies, including linguistic, historical, social, or methodological aspects.
  • Originality: Manuscripts must be original, based on research or literature reviews, and contribute to the advancement of Qur'anic and Tafsir studies.
  • Publication Status: Articles must be original, unpublished, and not under review elsewhere.

2. Language and Manuscript Format

  • Language: Manuscripts must be written in English to meet international standards and improve global accessibility.
  • Format: Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word format (RTF or .doc/.docx).
  • Layout: Use A4 paper size with 2.5 cm margins on all sides.
  • Font and Spacing: Use Times New Roman, 12-point font size, 1.5 line spacing, and justified alignment.

3. Manuscript Structure

  • Title: The title should be specific, clear, and not exceed 15 words.
  • Author Names and Affiliations: Include full names without academic titles, institutional affiliations, and email addresses. Authors must provide an active WhatsApp number for additional contact.
  • Abstract: The abstract should be 150-250 words and include the background, research objectives, methods, key findings, and contribution.
  • Keywords: Provide five relevant keywords that reflect the main topics of the article.
  • Main Sections: The manuscript should include:
    • Introduction: Explains the research background, problems addressed, and objectives.
    • Methods: Describes the approach or methods used in the study.
    • Results and Discussion: Presents key findings with in-depth analysis and relevance to existing literature.
    • Acknowledgments (Optional): Acknowledge individuals, institutions, or organizations that provided support.
    • Conclusion: Provides a concise summary and implications of the research findings.
  • References: References must follow APA style.

4. Reference and Citation Guidelines

  • Style: Beginning in June 2025, the journal will adopt the APA (American Psychological Association) citation style.
  • Reference Management Tools: Authors must use reference management software such as Mendeley or Zotero to ensure format consistency and citation accuracy.
  • Number of References: Articles should include 30-50 references, with at least 10% from Scopus-indexed journals and 10% from IAI Tabah published in the last five years. The remaining 80% should come from other books or journals (national or international) published within the last five years. All journal references must include DOIs.

5. Word Count and Writing Style

  • Length: Manuscripts should be 4,000–8,000 words, including the abstract and references.
  • Style: Use formal, clear, and concise language. Avoid overly technical terms without explanation.

6. Submission Process

  • Submission System: Manuscripts must be submitted via the Online Journal System (OJS) on the Al-Furqan website.
  • File Format: Ensure the manuscript file is in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format.
  • Submission Confirmation: Authors will receive confirmation via email or WhatsApp upon submission.

7. Review and Revision Process

  • Peer Review: All manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review process by two expert reviewers.
  • Revision Response: If revisions are required, authors must provide a complete and clear response to all reviewer feedback within the specified timeframe.

8. Ethical Standards

  • Originality and Anti-Plagiarism: Manuscripts must be free of plagiarism. The journal employs plagiarism detection software, with a maximum allowable similarity index of 25%.
  • Conflict of Interest: Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could influence the research or interpretation of data.

9. Transliteration of Non-Latin Terms

  • Manuscripts using Arabic or other non-Latin characters must follow applicable transliteration guidelines and maintain consistency throughout the text.
