Publication Ethics
Al-Furqan: Journal of Quranic and Tafsir Studies is committed to maintaining publication ethics standards in accordance with the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). To ensure the quality and scientific integrity of our journal, we require all parties involved—authors, reviewers, and editors—to adhere to the following principles:
-
Responsibilities of Editors
Editors are responsible for the content published in the journal, ensuring the quality of materials, and avoiding discrimination based on gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or religious beliefs. Editors must maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and not use any information from them for personal gain. They are also responsible for ensuring that all decisions related to manuscripts are transparent, objective, and based on strict scientific standards. -
Responsibilities of Reviewers
Reviewers play a crucial role in objectively and responsibly evaluating manuscripts. They must maintain confidentiality, provide objective recommendations based on clear arguments, and refrain from using information in the manuscripts for personal purposes. Reviewers are also responsible for checking citations, references, and identifying indications of plagiarism. -
Responsibilities of Authors
Authors must present research findings or ideas in an original, honest, and transparent manner, free from plagiarism or data manipulation. Articles must be original, unpublished, and not under review in another journal. Authors are responsible for the accuracy of the data and content in their manuscripts. The editorial team reserves the right to make editorial adjustments without altering the substance of the manuscript to maintain publication standards. -
Originality and Plagiarism-Free Requirement
All submitted manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and free from plagiarism (maximum 25%). Plagiarism screening is part of the evaluation process, and manuscripts with indications of plagiarism or self-plagiarism will be returned to the authors without further processing. -
Revision Policy and Response to Reviewers
Authors who are requested to revise their manuscripts must provide clear and complete responses to all feedback from reviewers. Revisions that do not address reviewers’ feedback or fail to comply with journal guidelines may result in manuscript rejection. -
Transparency of Conflicts of Interest
All parties involved in the publication process must disclose any conflicts of interest that may influence their judgment or decisions regarding manuscripts. Conflicts of interest may include financial relationships, institutional affiliations, or other personal interests that could affect objectivity and scientific integrity. -
Ethics in Data Collection
Authors collecting research data must adhere to ethical standards, particularly when involving human participants or sensitive data. Data must be reported honestly and in accordance with applicable ethical guidelines, especially in the field of Quranic and Tafsir studies. -
Author Appeals Mechanism
If authors disagree with the review outcomes, the journal provides an appeal mechanism that allows authors to submit responses or clarifications to the editorial team. Editors are responsible for ensuring that appeals are processed fairly and objectively, based on appropriate scientific considerations. -
Code of Ethics for Editors and Reviewers on Decision Transparency
Editors and reviewers must ensure that decisions are based on objective scientific standards without discrimination. All decisions should be transparent and well-reasoned, providing constructive feedback to authors for manuscript improvement, where necessary. -
Correction and Retraction Notifications
Al-Furqan: Journal of Quranic and Tafsir Studies is committed to ensuring publication accuracy. If serious errors or misleading information are discovered, the journal will issue corrections or retract articles in accordance with applicable guidelines. Corrections and retractions will be transparently displayed to ensure readers have access to accurate and reliable information. -
