Farsy Al-Huruf sebagai Basis Penafsiran Gender: Kajian atas Ayat-Ayat Perempuan dalam Tafsir Al-Jāmi‘ Li Aḥkām Al-Qur’ān Karya Al-Qurṭubī
This study aims to analyze the use of Farsy al-Huruf in Al-Qurṭubī’s Al-Jāmi‘ li Aḥkām al-Qur’ān, focusing on verses related to women’s issues, such as QS. Al-Baqarah [2]: 222, 240 and QS. An-Nisā’ [4]: 19, 43. Employing a descriptive qualitative method with textual analysis and a philological-hermeneutical framework, this research explores how variations in Qur’anic recitations (qirā’āt) shape gendered meanings within the text. The findings reveal that these variations influence not only phonetic and morphological structures but also the legal and social interpretations concerning women. For instance, differences between the readings yaththahharna and yathurna produce distinct moral and legal nuances in understanding purity and marital relations. This study argues that qirā’āt function as an epistemic tool enabling more contextual and gender-equitable readings of the Qur’an. The main contribution lies in integrating linguistic studies with classical exegesis through a modern hermeneutical approach, offering an expanded framework for justice-oriented Qur’anic interpretation in contemporary Islamic scholarship.
