Farsy Al-Huruf sebagai Basis Penafsiran Gender: Kajian atas Ayat-Ayat Perempuan dalam Tafsir Al-Jāmi‘ Li Aḥkām Al-Qur’ān Karya Al-Qurṭubī

This study examines Buya Hamka’s interpretation of Qur’an Surah al-An‘ām (6):116 and explores its relevance in addressing the phenomenon of Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) in contemporary society. The FoMO phenomenon has become increasingly widespread in the digital era, as individuals experience anxiety, dissatisfaction, and psychological pressure due to the compulsion to remain constantly connected to others’ social activities. In this context, the Qur’anic perspective offers a spiritual and moral foundation that guides humans toward psychological balance. This research employs a qualitative method with a library-based approach and taḥlīlī (analytical) interpretation, while utilizing Self-Determination Theory developed by Edward Deci and Richard Ryan to analyze the fundamental psychological needs of autonomy, competence, and relatedness. The findings reveal that Buya Hamka’s interpretation emphasizes patience, spiritual awareness, and self-control as antitheses to impulsive behavior caused by FoMO. He asserts that following the majority without critical reflection may lead individuals into moral crisis, whereas the Qur’an encourages istikāmah (steadfastness) and submission to God as comprehensive solutions. The study concludes that Qur’anic values can integrate modern psychological insights with Islamic spirituality to promote holistic well-being amid the pressures of digital culture.
