Peer Reviewer Policy

Madinah: Jurnal Studi Islam applies a peer-review process to ensure the academic quality, originality, relevance, and integrity of every manuscript submitted to the journal.

The journal implements a single-blind peer-review system. In this system, the identities of the reviewers are not disclosed to the authors, while the reviewers may be aware of the authors’ identities. This system is intended to maintain confidentiality, encourage objective feedback, and ensure a fair evaluation process based on the scholarly merit of the manuscript.

Initial Editorial Screening

All newly submitted manuscripts are initially evaluated by the editorial team. At this stage, the editor checks the manuscript’s relevance to the journal’s focus and scope, compliance with the author guidelines, completeness of metadata, writing quality, and similarity report.

Manuscripts that do not meet the journal’s basic requirements may be rejected at this stage. Manuscripts that pass the initial screening will be assigned to at least two independent reviewers with expertise relevant to the manuscript’s subject area.

Reviewer Assignment

Reviewers are assigned based on their expertise and academic relevance to the topic of the manuscript. The editorial team ensures that reviewers have appropriate competence to evaluate the manuscript objectively.

Review Report

Reviewers are expected to provide objective, constructive, and timely feedback. The review process evaluates the manuscript’s originality, structure, clarity of argument, methodological soundness, ethical compliance, clarity of findings, support for the conclusions, and relevance of references to previous studies.

Review Processing Time

The review process normally takes approximately three weeks, depending on the availability and response of the reviewers. If a reviewer does not respond within the assigned period, the manuscript may be reassigned to another reviewer.

Editorial Decision

Based on the reviewers’ reports and recommendations, the editor will make an editorial decision. The decision may be one of the following:

1. Accepted
2. Accepted with minor revisions
3. Accepted with major revisions
4. Resubmission required
5. Rejected

Authors will receive notification of the decision, along with comments from the reviewers, through the OJS system or email. The final decision regarding publication is made by the Editor-in-Chief.

Final Evaluation Before Publication

Before publication, the editorial team may request final improvements related to language, formatting, figures, tables, references, or other technical aspects of the manuscript.

Madinah: Jurnal Studi Islam is committed to maintaining a fair, objective, confidential, and academically responsible peer-review process.
