Screening for Plagiarism
Al-Furqan: Jurnal Studi Al-Qur’an dan Tafsir upholds academic and scientific integrity by strictly implementing an anti-plagiarism policy. The journal uses Turnitin software to detect and prevent plagiarism.
For a manuscript to be considered for peer review, the maximum acceptable similarity index is 25%, excluding references.
The types of plagiarism that authors must avoid include:
-
Direct plagiarism, copying words, sentences, or paragraphs from another author’s work without proper citation.
-
Substantial plagiarism, reproducing a significant portion of another author’s work, either quantitatively or qualitatively, without acknowledgment of the source.
-
Idea or paraphrasing plagiarism, taking ideas, phrases, or sentences and rephrasing them without citing the original source. Although difficult to detect by software, this practice is still considered unethical.
-
Self-plagiarism, publishing the same article in more than one outlet or recycling one’s own work without significant modifications. Any new work must demonstrate meaningful changes and present new contributions for readers.
Through this policy, Al-Furqan: Jurnal Studi Al-Qur’an dan Tafsir is committed to ensuring that every published article maintains originality and contributes meaningfully to scholarly discourse.
