Screening for Plagiarism
Every manuscript submitted to Al Furqan is checked for similarity with plagiarism-detection software (Turnitin or an equivalent tool) at the initial screening, and again before publication.

How results are handled
- Up to 20%, with no significant overlap with a single source: the manuscript proceeds to review.
- Above 20%: the manuscript is returned to the authors for rewriting before it can be considered.
- Substantial copying, duplicate publication or self-plagiarism (reusing one’s own published text without citation) at any stage: the manuscript is rejected, and misconduct in a published article leads to retraction following COPE guidance.
The editors look at the report itself, not only the percentage: long uncited passages, translated plagiarism and paraphrases that keep the structure of the source are treated as plagiarism even when the total is below 20%.
Authors are encouraged to check their manuscripts before submission. The similarity report is shared with the authors on request.
